pH Factor Facts

What does pH means?

pH is the abbreviation for potential hydrogen or ‘power of hydrogen’. It is a measuring unit of acidity and alkalinity of a solution. In other word the pH of any solution is the
measure of its hydrogen-ion [hydrogen ion H+.] concentration. The higher the pH reading the more alkaline and oxygen rich the fluid is. This is usually regarded as being a single proton. In aqueous solution, the hydrogen ion exists in a hydrated form such as the oxonium (hydroxonium) ion H3O+.

The lower the pH reading, the more acidic and oxygen deprived the fluid is. The pH is range is from 0 to 14, with 7.0 being neutral. Anything above 7.0 is alkaline, anything below 7.0 is acidic.

Human blood stays in a very narrow pH range around 7.35 - 7.45. Below or above this range means symptoms for disease. If blood pH moves too much below 6.8 or
above 7.8, cells stop functioning and the person develops health problems sometimes very serious which can even lea to death. The ideal pH balance for blood is 7.4

The urine, blood, saliva, digestive juices and the fluids inside and outside the body’s cells each have an optimum pH level, whereby blood pH is the most telling of all.
At rest, the normal blood pH of a human being is slightly alkaline, with a pH around 7.4 on the pH scale. Anything above that value is considered alkaline; anything below is described as acidic. Both, in their extremes, are life-threatening for the human body; if the pH value drops below 6.8 or increases above 7.8, the cells of the body cannot function properly anymore and the body will develop serious problems.
Excess of pH is known as Alkalosis and it refers to a condition reducing hydrogen ion concentration of arterial blood plasma (alkalemia). It occurs when arterial pH exceeds 7.45.

The opposite condition is acidosis.
Acidosis is an increased acidity (i.e. an increased hydrogen ion concentration). If not further qualified, it refers to acidity of the blood plasma. It occurs when arterial pH falls below 7.35. Electrolyte Potassium (K plus) and Sodium (Na plus) channels are life- essential functions. It affects our cardiovascular function, our heart. When there is insufficient electrolytes management our heart literally stops. Acidosis causes these Life-essential functions becomes inactive. It also affects how we feel and behave. It makes the person easily get irritated, short tempered and easily get fatigued.

New chemicals are being introduced to our foods, air, and water, which put even greater stresses on our system's ability to control the chemistry of our body fluids, and therefore functionality of our inner biological system is at risk. As a result, we see huge increases in the incidence of life threatening or chronic diseases. That’s why it is of utmost importance to our healthiness to finding the ideal balance of alkaline and acid forming foods. The more acidic foods will decrease the body's ability to absorb minerals and other nutrients, decrease the energy production in the cells, decrease its ability to repair damaged cells, decrease its ability to detoxify heavy metals, make tumor cells thrive, and make it more susceptible to fatigue and illness. A blood pH of 6.9, which is only slightly acidic, can induce even coma and death.

The more alkaline-forming foods you add to your nutrition, the better it is for your health even if you are able to completely avoid acidic foods, you should at least try to consume as less as possible of them, and instead step to a more alkaline diet for a healthier way of life.

What is the best liquid food for pH. Undoubtedly it is water because water is considered to be neutral, with a pH (the negative log of the hydrogen ion concentration) of 7. Acids have pH values less than 7. Human biochemistry that involves enzymes usually performs optimally around a biologically neutral pH of 7.4.But then what type of water.

Hard Water - Hard water is just the opposite of soft water. It is water that has a high mineral content, and as a result tends to be more alkaline. Some studies have shown that people have less heart attacks where the water is hard, presumably because the dissolved minerals that make the water hard are important for nutrition.

Soft water - Soft water is water that is low in minerals. This type of water tends to be more acidic

A note on much hyped excessively mineralized or excessively soft water.

The 2003 Nobel Prize for Chemistry reveals that the aquaporin, the water channel in the cell membrane, requires that there are no added substances or extra electrical charge for water molecules to pass easily one at a time to the interior of the cell. The bottom line is that only one molecule at a time will pass through the aquaporin. Other research has proven that high or low pH water will hydrate less successful into the cell, which is related the way in which the artificial addition of substances or electrons will imbalance pH as too high or way too low away from a range closer to a neutral pH of 7.0.

Other alkaline liquid foods are vegetable soups or green vegetable juices. Please note that some foods, such as citrus fruits, have an acid pH before they are consumed and but they usually leave an alkaline residue in the body after they have been metabolized.

Liquid items to be avoided because they are more acidic and therefore unhealthy are:-all alcoholic beverages, soda,Coffee, sweetened Fruit Juices, black Tea and Milk.

Solid Alkaline foods are mostly green vegetables, especially raw ones like fresh cucumber, Cabbage,Carrot, Green Peas,Kohlrabi, Peas,Pumpkin,Radishes cauliflower, onions, garlic and most kind of sprouts,. Furthermore, fruits like limes, tomatoes and avocado also have an alkalizing effect on our body, same as most kind of seeds fresh soybeans, almonds, figs, tomato slices etc . Eating alkaline foods will help our internal fluids to achieve a natural pH balance as the acidic environment inside the body will be eliminated. That means, by eating vegetables all day long, or taking sprouted greens dietary supplements, and avoiding acid forming and acidic foods, the body’s pH level will gradually be balanced. When pH balance is achieved, your body overall health will get restored.

Note Ripe bananas are alkaline; while green bananas are acidic.

If you avoid acidic pH that will keep your arteries, veins and heart healthy, Prevent cancerous cell growth, prevent Premature Aging, Prevent unnecessary FAT gain, Diabetes and Obesity.
